Touch Typing!

Nearly every student says they want to type faster.
We will use a fun program called Type To Learn 3 to help us build our typing skills.
Target
    Learning Targets:
  • I type using the touch typing method.
  • I am able to type at or above an accuracy level of 80%.
  • I am able to type faster & more accurately than when I began using Type To Learn 3.

    Instructions:
  1. Opening Type To Learn 3 -
    Windows

    Mac
    in the dock

    Use the same password used to log on to the computer.


  2. Logging In - Locate your name & click OK.

  3. Password - Enter your password each time logging in. Create a password the first time you log in.
    OR

  4. Completing Levels - After completing the lesson, complete each activity on the Mission To Do List.

  5. Cheating - Looking down at the keys is cheating. It is easy to cheat! You will only be making it harder on yourself if you cheat, though. Push yourself to type without looking as much as possible. It is the only way to learn.

    Accuracy
    Completed all lessons and activities above 80% accuracy.

    When performing below 80%, student repeated lesson/activity until achieving 80% or higher.

    Student completed lessons and activities using the touch typing method (without looking at keyboard).
    Completed most lessons and activities above 80% accuracy.

    When performing below 80%, student usually repeated lesson/activity until achieving 80% or higher.

    Student usually completed lessons and activities using the touch typing method (usually without looking at keyboard).
    Completed some lessons and activities above 80% accuracy.

    When performing below 80%, student sometimes repeated lesson/activity until achieving 80% or higher.

    Student sometimes completed lessons and activities using the touch typing method (sometimes without looking at keyboard).
    Completed no lessons and activities above 80% accuracy.

    When performing below 80%, student did not attempt to repeat lesson/activity.

    Student rarely completed lessons and activities using the touch typing method (usually looked at keyboard).

    Note: If unable to achieve 80%, student must show improvement in accuracy in order to earn a passing grade.
    Speed
    Student showed a drastic increase in speed over time.

    Student did not revert to "hunt & peck" method in order to achieve higher speeds.
    Student showed an increase in speed over time.

    Student sometimes reverted to "hunt & peck" method in order to achieve higher speeds.
    Student did not necessarily show an increase in speed over time.

    Student sometimes reverted to "hunt & peck" method in order to achieve higher speeds.
    Student did not show an increase in speed over time.

    Student reverted to "hunt & peck" method in order to achieve higher speeds.
    Effort
    Student completed lessons and activities during all designated class times (stayed on task).

    Student repeated lessons and activities when additional practice was needed.

    Student always displayed effort to use the correct technique and posture when typing.
    Student completed lessons and activities during most designated class times (usually stayed on task).

    Student usually repeated lessons and activities when additional practice was needed.

    Student usually displayed effort to use the correct technique and posture when typing.
    Student completed lessons and activities during some designated class times (sometimes stayed on task).

    Student sometimes repeated lessons and activities when additional practice was needed.

    Student sometimes displayed effort to use the correct technique and posture when typing.
