iMovie: Basic Skills

iMovie is a powerful movie editing tool that allows you to combine...
images (photos, graphics, drawings, etc.),
video (you will have a limited time to film, if any),
audio (sound effects, music, voiceover),
text (titles, subtitles, credits),
transitions, and
video effects.

Nearly everything you do in iMovie works in the same way.
1) Choose the correct tab (Clips, Photos, Audio, Titles, Transitions, Effects)
2) Choose what you want and adjust the options
3) Drag & drop into the timeline (preview first to get an idea how it might look)
4) Change what you have done by selecting the clip in the timeline, making adjustments, and clicking Update.
5) Change the clip order in the timeline in Clip Viewer mode.
6) Remember to select the clip you want to edit by clicking on it, then make your edits.
7) Experiment!
8) Have Fun!
