Activity 3

  1. Download this Excel template to help you create an organized Computer Comparison Chart of 5 or more different computers. You will want to search multiple sites for each computer you choose to include. There will be an in-class Excel mini-lesson modeling this activity.

You must include the following categories in your chart:

    • Computer Description
    • Operating System
    • CPU Class
    • CPU Speed (in GHz)
    • RAM (in MB)
    • Hard Drive capacity (in GB)
    • other Drives
    • Monitor (included? type? size?)
    • Software (what is included?)
    • Price
    • Notes
    • Link to specific page containing item and price information

    The spreadsheet must include:

    • Borders
    • Centered columns
    • Money must be formatted as "currency"
    • Amounts must be correctly matched with the units
    • Active links
    • Table must be sorted first by Hard Drive Capacity, second by RAM, and third by CPU speed.

Underneath the chart you must describe which computer is the "best," explaining why. You must display your understanding of the computer parts in this summary statement.

  2. Explore some of the following sites (or use a search engine) to guide your shopping.
