Shopping for a Computer
Guiding Question: How do we choose the best computer to meet our needs?

Target
    Learning Targets:
  • I can identify computer hardware by name, function, effect on computer operation, and units of measure.
  • I can research computers sold on the web, compared hardware and cost, and used a spreadsheet (Excel) to create an organized comparison chart.
  • I can create a one-page advertisement for the "best" computer.

We see advertisemements for computers everywhere - in magazines, newspapers, on television, and on the Web. When do we know if we need a new computer? If we do need a new one, how do we know which is the right computer to buy? Should we buy the cheapest computer? ...the most expensive computer? ...the brand name we trust? Where do we get our information? What size hard drive do we need? How much RAM? How fast should the processor be?

Sometimes just knowing more might help us get more out of the computer we already use.

We are going to answer many of these questions as we learn and shop for a new computer.
