Portfolio Cover Project Sample (Using LiveQuartz & ComicLife) --

 

How?

  1. Open ComicLife. Save as cover_yourname.comicdoc (ComicLife will add .comicdoc).

  2. Drag & drop a panel onto the blank page, adjusting it to fit inside the margins.


  3. Drop a background image into the panel. Adjust the size of the image to fill the panel. Be sure to use a high resolution image. Remember to give credit to the photographer along the side or bottom of the image (see sample).


  4. Drop a photo of yourself onto the canvas or layer list in LiveQuartz.
    Delete background from this layer using the eraser or lasso (+ delete key) tool.

  5. Save a copy of this newly created transparent image as a PNG file into your folder. [File > SaveAs > FileType: PNG > Save]

  6. In ComicLife, locate your new transparent image by browsing the > ,
    then while holding the Apple/Command key, drag & drop the image into the panel.

  7. Use the lettering tool to add your title (Your Name).

  8. Use the narration box tool to add the subtitle (Portfolio 2007-2008).

  9. Adjust the size and placement of the transparent image and text in your panel.
    Remember the photo composition priciples that we learned when deciding how to arrange the images
    (Hint: "Rule of Thirds").

  10. Save as cover_yourname.comicdoc.

  11. Export a JPG copy as cover_yourname.jpg to your folder, then submit the file according to Mr. Glickman's instructions.
