Comic Rubric

(.pdf file)

We will be using photo editing software to manipulate and collage multiple images. Our layout design will demonstrate understanding of composition techniques such as the "Rule of Thirds."

Photo Editing - Creating Layers & Transparent Images

We will create transparent images using the application LiveQuartz
and create our comic covers using ComicLife .

It is also possible to create a multi-layered image entirely within LiveQuartz.
(More about LiveQuartz..) or or a variety of other photo editing applications.

Task:
Create a collage image that demonstrates use of image layering & transparency, as well as design layout principles (Composition) that demonstrate the photo concepts learned in Part 1.
This will be used as your comic cover.

    The comic cover must include...
  • Background Layer - find or shoot a fitting background/setting for your image (see below)
  • Transparent Layer - Shoot a medium-close-up photo representing your superhero. Look into the camera so that you are facing the reader.
  • Additional Layers - Include any other layers that will complement the image. You should include important story details.
  • Title - "Your Superhero Name" -large font size
  • Subtitle - "Story Title " -large font size
  • Your Name & Date - "Comic Created by Your Name" & "Date" -small font size, but clearly readable
  • Narration - One short paragraph explaining how you gained your power (backstory)
  • Apply the photo composition concepts learned in Part 1 of the project.
