In stories and songs the crossroads is often a symbol of diversity and difference coming together. The founders of The Crossroads School believe that diversity dramatically increases the richness of students’ ideas, their creative power, their problem-solving abilities and their acceptance of others. The Crossroads School encourages students to investigate, value, and draw upon their own diverse histories, talents, and resources along with those of other communities and cultures.

The name of our school is significant for another reason as well. The middle school years form an important crossroads in young people’s development, and our staff is committed to helping students successfully navigate this challenging period. We take the time to understand each student’s individual strengths and needs because we believe that all students have talents and gifts that are waiting to be discovered and developed. Our strength as a community of learners derives from the diversity of our students.
